the aftermath

I arrived, helped set everything up, manned the booth, sold MONSTER energy drinks to 9 year olds and then quietly dipped out to the bar for a while. Most people were being quite douchy to begin with. My being drunk did not appreciate the situation. The conversation had depreciated into “I’m better than you… no I’m better than you…”

Which prompted me to run for about a mile before throwing up. A nice little girl brought me some water, (thank you!) and I walked for a mile or so. I sat down, changed into some shorts, and started running again. During the break they were basically still being douchebags. And worse yet, they made allusions to how much more ‘Christian’ they were than the other people there.

Now, I can put aside generally duchebaggery, but that sort of crossed the line. If nothing else, I was there to walk/run the track for a cause (relating to the three reasons I stated before, reasons one and two), namely, to fight cancer.

Ok, so maybe I’m the bad guy for leaving for four hours to get shit-faced. “Family Event” or not, it was fucking boring. I’ve done plenty of things in my life sober that weren’t boring. This was not one of them.

So I have my T-shirt and I know I raised a few bucks (something like $50 or so, give or take) to fight cancer. Take that, Cancer.
