They said they’d keep it up

and they are.

I was initially a supporter of Paul, and technically still am, but I’ve shifted support for Huckabee and Romney as well. The biggest problem I had with Paul’s campaign were his supporters, especially the evangelical Paul-is-sent-from-heaven types. I am a huge supporter of most things libertarian, and believe to this day that Paul would be the best choice for the job, but the sheer number of lunatics that rally to his name scares me.

The militant truthers that constantly contact me about Paul support is enough to turn me away from it, and I voted for him in the primary! These people simply hurt his image in the eyes of those who would be otherwise swayed.

But you know what? The GOP let this happen by messing with the caucuses and repeatedly changing shit around to benefit the presumptive candidate.

I’m no genius, and I’m certain that a lot of people will disagree with me on this, but caucuses are a great idea instead of primary elections. The more politically knowledgeable, and more politically charged, folks tend to participate. Most people do not understand the platform of those for whom they are voting, but they vote anyway.

And I’m tired of hearing this ‘get rid of the electoral college’ crap every four years. I’m pretty sure that most people don’t even understand that it’s actually written into the constitution –it’s not just ‘something we do’ or a ‘law’. There is a very good reason for it too: to prevent ‘fad voting’ and mob-rule. We could very quickly have ended up with somebody perfectly willing to nuke the middle-east if 9/11 had happened a year before it did and the popular vote elected the President. In a way, it’s a check against mob mentality.
