Mars Craft Succeeds in Soft Landing:
The spacecraft Phoenix landed safely on Mars yesterday, making a hazardous soft landing on the planet’s far north with all its scientific systems apparently intact and ready to begin an intensive new search for life beyond Earth.
I’m curious to see what they find. It does occur to me that too big of a discovery might never be revealed to the public: that would cause jihad and riots and worse. How much can the mob handle? Truthfully, not much. I’m not much of a paranoid though, and they did release their findings of ‘alleged micro-organisms’ in a moon rock found in Antarctica.
How bad could it be if they found some crazy paleolithic-style shrimp living in small pockets of volcanic water below the Mars polar caps, though? I mentioned it before, about the possible consequences of finding (albeit not-intelligent) extra-terrestrial life.
Simply put, we should have done this thirty years ago.
