Reasons why editors exist

I’ll share this because it’s mildly interesting; I don’t believe in language-police, though.

I do believe in copy editing, criticism, and sometimes plain mockery of poor writing. Here’s an example of how it’s done (from the comments):

Her Amazon culture mirrored both her sense of strength and wisdom, being that she was from the clan of Moonlight Angels.

Ahahahaha. Moonlight Angels. Sorry, but after this point, nobody can take your writing seriously. Moonlight. Angels. It could have come straight out of Sailor Moon.

A bright red jewel appeared on Selphia’s forehead, glowing as bright as a flame governed by its passionate cry.

Flame governed by its passionate cry? Wtf?

And those aren’t even the more abusive instances the author uses. I’m not a huge fan of metaphor, nor am I a strict prescriptivist, but shitty writing is just that.
