South Paw Hijinks

This post at Marginal Revolution seemed to be a bit serendipitous: Saturday evening one of my good friends, a lesbian, noted how many of the bent girls she knows are left-handed. She managed to rattle off several names, and there were only a few exceptions that she could think of (one of whom was at the table with us). Is there a propensity towards homosexuality among left-handed women? Wikipedia might shed some light upon the subject:

There is strong evidence that prenatal testosterone contributes to brain organization. One theory is that high levels of prenatal testosterone results in a higher incidence of left-handedness. This could be why there are more left-handed males than females and also the increased incidence of left-handedness in male twins. See Geschwind-Galaburda Hypothesis.

I wouldn’t take much from that as the article goes on to offer other theories that include brain damage, use of ultrasounds and schizophrenia. It would be interesting to see some cross-indexed data to observe any correlation, though.
