it might be just fire for effect, but they might actually be serious

If you don’t ‘get’ fist-bumping, or moronically continue associate it with terrorism, then you have simply been left behind by culture. I’ve always understood it to be an informal form of a handshake; it certainly comes in handy when my hands are dirty and I don’t want to share the wealth. (Germophobes are probably very familiar with it.)
I don’t remember where I picked it up, but it was quite common when I was a teenager in Wisconsin. Apparently, we were a jihidi cell, fist-bumping our lives away.
I am bothered by the fact that people get upset about the fact that culture evolves, and when they notice that things aren’t going to remain stodgy forever, they get upset. Most businessmen don’t wear three piece suits and fedoras anymore, either. Being professional is about how you present yourself; any thug or chump can put on a nice suit and still not make the grade. Some people can not wear their suit jacket and be more professional.
A fist-bump is a mannerism of solidarity and individualism.
Basically, go fuck yourself if you’ve got a problem with it.
