what am I going to do now?

I’m about to finish the second season of Twin Peaks, and then watch Fire Walk With Me. I will have nothing left to watch besides the random flick and Mythbusters. I don’t watch television regularly unless something catches my attention, which happens about as often as you might imagine. More recent shows that caught my attention have been Dexter (although that seemed to get tired), Jericho, Firefly, Heroes, and the occasional adult-swim cartoon. Reality TV doesn’t strike my fancy, and most everything else just just doesn’t cut the mustard.

I’m considering The Shield, Rescue Me, The X-Files, Northern Exposure, Dark Shadows and MacGyver at the moment. Wild, playful plot arcs are a much needed thing in a good television program. I want to feel as though I’m watching a serialized movie, not a series of stories that happen to involve the same characters with only the most minimal connection between episodes. If I wanted that, I’d walk downstairs and catch an episode of Law & Order (great show, but not something I want to sit down and digest whole) or CSI. (I realize that MacGuyver doesn’t fall into this category, and that entire stretches of The X-Files fail in this regard, but whatever, they were pretty kickass shows.)

I’m open to suggestions.
