Instead of writing an essay, I started reading Gravity’s Rainbow last night. I’m about twenty or so pages into it and I’m impressed so far -more so than I initially thought I would be from what I’ve heard. Either that, or I’m just a sucker like that. The weekend was mostly a drunken blur, a hungover blur or some other sort of dim situation.
I did go to see Eagle Eye. What a load of shit that was -I actually walked out of the movie. And because I’m still upset about it, I’ll say this: the bad guy is skynet. Shame on you, Hollywood.
- What makes an ideal woman? The Times is my Monday-morning happiness.
- Paul Krugman (who just won the Nobel!) wrote this paper about Competitve Advantage. It’s making my morning complete.
- Cops lying to get search warrants. I am decidedly not surprised by this.
- What the hell is ‘Beverly Hills Chihuahua’? Somehow it’s killing at the box office. From what I can see, it’s some sort of vapid comedy about talking dogs. I’ll bet it’s because people don’t need to be reminded about how shitty things are when they’re at the movies, too.
- Another rant about the singular ‘they’. I am a proponent of it and will use it as I see fit.
