If you seem to think that I’m some sort of raving Obama supporter, you’re wrong. I just find it easier to pick the low-hanging fruit (McCain). This is a good reason not to like the new administration. Mandatory community service, tuition in exchange for community service, mandatory civil defense training. Granted, I volunteered and served in the military for six years, but that was my choice.

I’ve been to South Korea, where it is mandatory to do civil service, normally police or military. They are able to defer service by going to college, and many of them hate it. But everyone can take care of themselves to some degree, so that’s an upside I guess.
