I will not be keeping much of an eye on the election coverage, but from the looks of it, things are going about the way I expected.

There are two ways to look at any competition: winning/losing or right/wrong. You can be right and lose. (Or as one of my esteemed -and possibly brain-damaged -teachers once told me, you only lose if you give up, otherwise you’re beaten.) So is a moral victory a victory at all? Roissy would say not. In a way, he’s right because moral victories don’t get you laid. They are helpful to keep you from slicing your own neck open and providing a bit of cushion for a day or two until you just say “fuck, I lost.” Either that, or I’m fucking dilusional because I lie to myself for a day or two to soften the blow. It helps me to keep my composure and seem unbothered.

And in regards to this election, the one I suspect I’m going to vote in during lunch this afternoon, the regional voting patterns haven’t really changed a whole lot since they drafted the constitution. There are, mostly, two Americas with a handful of other-minded folks who are willing to drop their support for the next-best. And people really are getting pretty worked up over it all. We don’t live in the 1800’s, when a president would actually change something anymore. Remember how everyone loves bipartisanship until the election comes around?

Yeah, it’s all bullshit, though, really.
