It’s not misogyny, it’s psychology

Men find thin, seductive women most attractive, a US university study:

Wake Forest University researcher Dustin Wood polled 4000 men and women, aged 18 to more than 70, on how attractive they found the subjects of a range of photographs of people of the opposite sex aged 18 to 25.

The study, perhaps not surprisingly, found men’s view on the attractiveness of different women was defined by physical features, with women who looked thin and seductive getting the highest ratings.

Men also were particularly attracted to women who appeared confident.

Women showed a more diverse range of responses, with some rating particular men very attractive while other women found the same men not attractive at all.

For anyone who has had a normal amount of experience with the opposite sex, this should come as no surprise. Women do, in fact, view beauty subjectively, while men do not.

  1. It is easier for men to determine attractiveness in potential mates.
  2. Men can more effectively compete by compensating for a lack of physical attractiveness (there is a tipping point, I’m sure).

There is also some shlock about how “girls dig geeks.” If you are talking about interests and fashion, then yes, this is correct. Geeks and nerds were originally labeled as such because they had poor interpersonal skills and were thus outcasts because nobody could even hold a conversation with them. Being a nerd doesn’t mean you aced differential equations and can quote Star Wars (or own Star Wars figurines). It means you have no confidence. The terms geek and nerd have been usurped by pop-culture.
