One Salinas officer says he thought he had been shot before opening fire

Police opened fire on an unarmed couple during a routine traffic stop late Tuesday night because one officer “thought he was shot,” a high-ranking Salinas Police Department official said Thursday.

“He saw what he perceived as a threat and thought he was shot, and based on that both officers discharged their firearms,” said Dino Bardoni, commander of investigations.

No one was hurt in the 11:24 p.m. incident at North Sanborn Road and Freedom Parkway, but the couple’s SUV was riddled with bullet holes and its rear window was shattered.

Police are releasing few details about the incident or case and have characterized it as a “priority investigation,” Bardoni said.

It’s the fourth officer-involved shooting in the city in the past seven months, two of which were fatal.

Interim Police Chief Daniel Ortega refused to discuss the most recent case, referring all questions to Bardoni.

Bardoni said the incident began when one officer stopped the vehicle because one of its license plate lights was not working. He was joined shortly thereafter by a second officer.

Bardoni said the primary officer was in the midst of contacting the vehicle’s occupants, a driver and passenger, when the problem began.

“He was walking up to them, nothing out of the ordinary,” Bardoni said, when there was the perception of a threat and the officer thought he’d been shot.

Police later determined that the couple was unarmed.

How can you think you’ve been shot when there is nothing to suggest it, such as pain or a gunshot, or something? I’m at a loss of words. Apparently the Salinas PD has been shooting people up lately and this one makes the least sense a police shooting could.

Through an unofficial opinion of the Georgia Attorney General it states “Under Georgia law, active duty military personnel are exempted from the requirement of a firearms permit. The exemption is not limited to the performance of military duty. These personnel may, upon request, obtain a firearms permit if otherwise qualified. Their dependents may be issued a permit if otherwise qualified only upon establishing residency in this state. Law enforcement officers are also exempt from the requirement to obtain a permit. *

Change is A-Coming

When a child says “I’m sorry.” for misbehaving and then immediately does the same thing, he either does not know the meaning of the words he speaks or doesn’t care about the value of his word.

Similarly, when a politician says he supports the Second Amendment, and then votes for bills that violate those rights, there are only two options. He either doesn’t know what he is saying, or he is saying what is necessary to get elected.

Either way, actions speak louder than words.

And so it is with Barack Obama.

he was in favor of local law suits against gun manufacturers,
he supports for prohibiting gun shops within five miles of any school,
he is against concealed carry by law abiding citizens,
he favors one gun a month laws,
he favors ‘assault weapons bans’,
he has favored a ban on all semiautomatic firearms,
he favors limits on handgun ammunition,
he favors limits on ‘assault weapon’ ammunition,
he believes that state and local entities should be able to implement their own gun control,
and last month stated he would not have enough votes to start gun confiscations.

and so goes the same political shit. we have a black bush in the white house
